The Man in Black, but not Johnny Cash Orthodox Podcast.

Participating:

- Fr. Andrew Welzig - www.theologian.org

- Jacob Lee - www.eXistdesigns.com

Fr. Andrew talks about selling his record collection because rock and roll was “evil”. This interestingly enough leads to the end times pre-tribulation rapture discussion and what Orthodox Christians believe. Somehow we even mention Left Behind and Kirk Cameron.

  2. just wanted to say that i really enjoy your show, even though i am a latin. thank you for not disparaging the “western” church (at least in the podcasts i have listened to so far)!

you did make mention of the immaculate conception. is this something the orthodox have as a pious belief? also, i believe jacob said, regarding the immaculate conception, that mary “had parents”. i may have misunderstood what was being said, but i want to state that catholic belief is that mary was cleansed from the stain of original sin at the moment of her conception. this is obviously different from the virgin birth. the virgin birth necessitates that jesus only had one biological parent (the Theotokos). The theotokos, herself, of course had two parents, whether or not you choose to believe in the immaculate conception. as in the orthodox church, the marital act is a holy, sacred, and good thing in the catholic church.

all that being said, thanks for the wonderful podcast. i love learning more about your traditions and practices. i have been to several eastern liturgies that are in communion with the pope, and it truly is a beautiful and transcendent liturgy. while i’m not shopping around to convert, i would like to nevertheless welcome you to Christ’s church! God’s blessings to you and your ministry!
