  3. I am in the middle of this podcast and I was just listening to the part about worship not being “me-centered”. I decided to put it to the test. I am an orthodox inquirer so I am no expert, but I do try to pray the hours regularly and I noticed that there are plenty of references to “I” or “me” in the prayers, especially in the psalm readings. I agree with you that Orthodox worship is more God-centered than me-centered, as it should be. Maybe it’s more God-centered in the sense that worshipping God isn’t about my happiness or self-fulfillment, but it’s about giving to God what is His. I guess what I’m trying to say is I find that most of the “seeker friendly” Christianity that I experience is so about helping people find their personal happiness in Jesus, that’s the me-centered emphasis. It’s not about bowing in trembling holy fear before the Almighty God and Creator of the universe and surrendering our life, self-fulfillment and all, to Him. This me-centered Christianity often comes off as self-help with God sprinkled in for good measure. It does attract “seekers”. What I love about Orthodoxy is that it’s not trying to attract anybody, it’s simply proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ. Anyway, I love all the new podcasts and all that’s happening at iconnewmedianetwork. You are in my prayers. Keep ‘em coming!
