The Path to Prayer: Part 4: Keep Inner Stillness

The Path to Prayer: Do Not React, Do Not Resent, Keep Inner Stillness

This is the forth part of a lecture series given by Fr. Jonah, abbot of the monastery of St. John of Shanghi and San Francisco. This recording features the third principle of The Path to Prayer: Keep Inner Stillness.

Do Not React, Do Not Resent, Keep Inner Stillness— these three principles are really a summation of the Philokalia, the collection of Orthodox Christian wisdom.

These disciplines are for everyone to practice and Fr. Jonah gives real life examples to translate this Christian practice into reality.

  1. This was excellent. Thank you for making this available.

  2. When I hear talks like this I need no other justification for converting to Orthodoxy. This is the spirituality that most makes sense to me and seems “natural.”

  3. However, I didn’t say this was easy, just natural.

  4. It’s an excellent series. Should be required listening/reading in schools. Can you provide more information as to the music playing in the background intro to “The Path to Prayer”?
