This week:Jake, Calee and Marina reconnect after the holiday season. Marina fills us in about her recent tour of Baptisms and Chrismations and her latest visit to St. Xenia Skete, associated with St. Herman of Alaska Monastery. Calee’s been sick and doing some reading, most notably, A Short Trip to the Edge by Scott Cairns. She also recommends Relief: A Quarterly Christian Expression.
Fr. Justin Mathews (St. Anne Orthodox Church, Oakridge TN.) joins in the mix. Fr. Justin Shares his thoughts on the use of non liturgical art in the Orthodox Church. Before becoming Orthodox and then a Priest, Fr. Justin was involved in the Christian music scene where he was signed to a major Christian record label and has toured the US sharing his music.
This week: The gang regroups after a busy holiday season. We share our thoughts on the two major feasts celebrated during our break: Nativity and Theophany.
Also, there have beena few movies featuring the Orthodox faith making the rounds. We talk about “Ostrov” (OCTPOB if you’re looking at the DVD cover) which translated from Russian is “The Island.” While sometimes difficult to find, this film is an amazing look at a holy fool at a monastery in Russia.
It’s a sparse crowd as many of the Generation Orthodox podcasters are away for the holiday season. Jake, Calee and Marina talk about the Nativity feast (Christmas!) and what they’ve been up to. Hint, hint: be nice to retail employees. FrankSchaeffer’s new book gets a mention as it is making the reformed Christians very upset with the idea his parents were human.
Title: Not Sure What to Call it

This week: The Guys all flaked out and left Jake and the Ladies. The gals share what they’ve been reading/ book ideas. Suzanne can’t get The Shinn’s “Australia” our of her head and Marina just got an organ for her band, “Wise as Serpents.” We may be choir geeks, but we’re thankful for Byzantine chant uniting us.
